Biography of the founder of Innovative Marketing Services, LLC
I was born in 1958 in El Paso, Texas. My father was a mechanic at the local army base and my mother stayed busy raising me and my seven brothers and sisters. By my sixth birthday both my parents had passed away and I spent my childhood growing up with my brothers and sisters. One of my brothers was a genuine car guy and at an early age it became clear I was hooked. I spent after school and summers working at his repair shop. He raced sprint cars and my weekends were spent at the track helping wherever I could.
At 16 years of age I was living on my own working and finishing high school. When I scraped together enough money I bought my first stock car and hit the dirt tracks. After high school I spent a few years earning my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a lot of classes in Marketing. During that time I assisted my brother in building and managing El Paso Speedway Park, a half mile dirt track. Eventually I became general manager and the experience of putting on weekly racing is one I cherish to this day. From there I went to work at Yearwood Speed & Custom, the local performance warehouse distributor and retail speed shop. That was my first taste of outside sales and I knew this was for me. A few years of growing sales at Yearwood's left me yearning for the next level.
So, off I went to Southern California to work as the outside salesman for Competition Specialties, a four location wholesale distributor of automotive and truck products. Working at Competition Specialties provided more exposure to the automotive aftermarket and the opportunity for another successful position growing sales. Six years into this an opportunity opened to move to Phoenix, Arizona to work as a factory representative for R&R Marketing Consultants. I thrived at that position for the seventeen years prior to establishing IMS. My work at R&R was excellent training and I had the privilege of representing companies like Airaid, Comp Cams, Edelbrock and MSD, just to name a few. Additionally, I was able to work with distributors such as CSK/O'Reilly, Engine & Performance Warehouse, Desert Rat, Loper’s Performance and Time Distributing, just to name a few. Along the way I gained valuable experience, generated very strong sales growth and earned multiple awards from the manufacturers I represented, from the distributors I called on and from SEMA. I am proud of the reputation I’ve earned through my 34 years of working in this industry and encourage anyone to seek opinions from the hundreds of people I’ve had the honor to work with. I’ve had more than my share of race cars, muscle cars, rock crawlers and remain a true enthusiast very happy in my shop working on my latest project.
I am most excited about the opportunity to provide the services I know are much needed in today’s market place and encourage you to contact us if you feel your company could benefit from an “innovative” approach to your marketing needs.
